A walk along Praia Salgado Coastal Dunes up to the Ridge and Back
Wednesday, June 17, 10:00
The Walk: This is a rough, steep, and beautiful trail. It mostly follows dirt roads and open rutted tracks that are used by off-road enthusiasts and mountain bikers. It can be muddy and dangerous during rainy times and challenging at any time. However, the rugged terrain and the fact that it is in an ecologically protected area means there are fabulous views. The walk starts at the Praia do Salgado parking area follows tracks parallel to the coast for awhile and then turns uphill for a pass by a restored moinho and a visit to the Paraglider Launch site. From the paraglider ‘Jumping off Point’ on a clear day, you have a view of the coastline from Nazaré and Sitio to the north to Peniche and the Berlingas to the south.
Please carpool if possible. See below for details.
