The Walk
A long walk in the area of Maiorga just north of Alcobaca.
The walk is a variation of the PR11 ACB Caminhos da Maiorga.
The route begins at Largo do Pelourinho next to the Parish Council building but we will start from the carpark. We will head towards the fruit fields of Maiorga, continue through the meadows to the edge of the parish, and climb to the highest point in Maiorga: Eira das Chãs, The walk goes through an area of pine and eucalyptus trees until Rua da Ribeira. Parts of the trail are loose gravel and rocks so walking poles are recommended. The walk passes through a vast area of chestnut trees, called Soito, located on the hill of Quinta das Cidreiras. We will then return to the starting point towards the Miradouro da Quinta do Outeiro, overlooking the fields of Maiorga.
Timing
The walk is about 11 km and is expected to take about 3 hours
