The woods at Bouro woodland

The walk follows sandy tracks through woodland and cultivated fields. There is very little road walking. The sand is very loose in places and in wet weather there will be the occasional puddle. There are no hills.

Meeting and start point

Meet at open grassy area by the railway road crossing on the road into Bouro.
There is ample parking space along the side of the road. See the Notes section below for directions.

  • From Salir do Porto, drive over the railway line towards the The Nascer do Sol restaurant towards Tornada/Caldas da Rainha. From Nascer do Sol, you pass another restaurant on the left and drive for about 1.5km, At the end of some green fencing (around the strawberry fields) on the right hand side, you then turn right onto a road signposted to Bourro. The parking area is about 0.5km along that road by the railway crossing.

The Walk

The walk follows sandy tracks through woodland and cultivated fields. There is no road walking. The sand is very loose in places and in wet weather there will be the occasional puddle.

The Walk:  The walk follows sandy tracks through woodland and cultivated fields. There is no road walking. The sand is very loose in places and there will be the occasional puddle, but there are no steep ascents.

Timing:  The walk is 5 km taking about 1.5 hours.

 

Car Meeting Point:  Meet at the car park of the restaurant Nascer do Sol in Salir do Porto at 10.15 am.

Notes:  The Nascer do Sol is 50 metres from the Salir do Porto railway station on the road connecting Salir with Chão do Parada. From Tornada take the N8 direction Alfeizerão and turn left direction Chão do Parada after 0.5 kms. Drive straight through Chão do Parada followed by woodland and you will see the restaurant on the LHS just before the level crossing (about 5 kms).

Walk location:  A circular walk from Chão da Parada to Bouro.

The Walk:  The walk is flat and along country tracks through woodland and farmland. The ground is firm with some sandy patches.  There could be some mosquitoes.

Timing:  The walk is 6 km, about 1.5 hours.

Walk location:  A linear walk from Chão da Parada to Salir do Porto.

The Walk:  The walk is flat and mostly along country tracks through woodland, with loose sand in places and some road walking. The ground will be wet in places and there will be some long, wet grass.

Timing:  The walk is 6 km, about 2 hours.

Walk location: A circular walk from Chão da Parada to Bouro.

From Tornada take the N8 direction Alfeizerão and turn left direction Chão da Parada after 0.5 km. Drive straight through Chão da Parada followed by woodland and you will see the restaurant on the left hand side just before the level crossing (about 5 kms).

From São Martinho do Porto turn left at the roundabout in Salir do Porto. You will cross the level crossing after 200 metres and the restaurant is 50 m further on the right hand side.
