The Walk

Through countryside near Pedra do Ouro, and back along the coastline

The walk starts through the streets of Pedra do Ouro, crosses the main road and into woodland following well marked sandy tracks. We follow more tracks into some open countryside following sandy tracks, with some up and down slopes before re-crossing the main road and follow a short path back to the coastline. There are good views of the countryside and coastline at times, which of course is always enhanced by good weather. Finally, we descend on a short but steep hill back to the streets of Pedra do Ouro and make our way back to the meeting point. Some of the paths maybe slippery after wet weather and poles are recommended for those who need them. In warm weather be sure to protect yourself from the sun as a fair proportion of the walk is unshaded.

The Walk

Through countryside near São Pedro de Moel and back along the beach

We start by heading inland along sandy tracks before joining quiet roads.  Then we follow well marked tracks and climb to a nice viewpoint overlooking woodland and the surrounding area. From there we descend for a short distance on a very steep, sandy track, through some rough ground before connecting with a quiet road. The road takes us through woodland and leads us to the beach just north of São Pedro de Moel. We follow the beach, and then the coastal promenade to make our way back to the Lighthouse at São Pedro de Moel. Walking boots/shoes and walking poles (for those who need them) are recommended.

The Walk

The walk starts at the restaurant Meu Jardim , from their we walk through the woods around the Monte de São Bartelomeu and return to the place we started. We walk on road or sandy paths , ideal now considering the weather we had the past weeks.

• Coming from São Martinho do Porto direction Nazaré on the EN242 , you pass a bridge followed by a round about , turn right the first bypass road to Valado dos Frades. After 500 meter there is a small road at the right side (see sign board Meu Jardim), drive to the end of this road. Coming from the Variante de Nazaré, the last round about , use third exit and see above. At the round about there is also a sign baord Meu Jardim.

The Walk

Blue water walk

The walk starts at the Parque de Merandes de Lagoa do Soloio and from there we walk through the woods of the Lagoa Fanhai area. At the end we maka a tour around the Lagoa do Soloio with its nice blue colour water. Most of the time we walk on sandy tracks which is most convienent after some rainy days.

The parking in front of Jorge Vieira shop in Valado dos Frades from where we drive to the walk start point. Jorge Vieira shop location is as follows: coming from Nazaré take the direction Valado do Frades – Alcobaça via N8-5 , also called Estrada de Nazaré , once you reach a round about followed very quick by a larger one , take the fouth exit and soon you will see the building of Jorge Vieira (garden center).

The Walk

Nice walk with great views over Praia do Norte

The walk starts via the Estrada Atlantico and returns to the starting point through the woods between the Estrada Atlantco and the Atlantic Ocean.

The first 2 km follows the Estrada Atlantico. Then it will be mostly sandy trails.

Timing

The walk is about 6,5 km and is expected to take about 2 hours with a stop to enjoye the ocean view

The Walk

The pine woods at Calhau and close to Praia do Norte

The first part is downhill through pine woods, followed by a section of quiet road and then uphill across open land with fine views along the coast. The next stage of the walk is uphill into the square at Sitio, we go along the road which leads to the fort on the headland. The final stage is partly on pavements through Sitio. Underfoot the ground is sandy and then a firm path.

The lay-by on the road next to the Lidl supermarket The meeting point is on the northern side of Nazaré. Coming from the south side take the road from Nazaré to Marinha Grande (N242). The road by-passes Nazaré centre and ascends a long hill. At the top of the hill you come to a roundabout where there is a signpost to the Modelo supermarket (turn left at the roundabout). You join a dual-carriageway and after 100m you will see Lidl on the right and Modelo on the left. There is lay-by parking on both sides of the dual-carriageway.

The Walk

The pine woods between Nazaré and Valado do Frades

The walk follows sandy tracks through open pine woodland and by cultivated fields. Half way round we pass some stagnant water covered in pond weed – maybe your dog would enjoy a swim, but you may not enjoy the result. There are some quite steep, but fairly short sandy ascents. Bring your walking poles for extra stability.  Some of the paths may be overgrown and wet if it rains.

The Walk

The pine woods between Nazaré and Valado dos Frades

The walk is along sandy tracks through open pine woodland and by cultivated fields. The walk encircles a small lake in the woods, with a beach, then we return more or less by the same path to the start point. There is one short, steep incline and the path has loose sand in places.

The Walk

A circular walk near Nazaré and Pederneira

The walk start at the Cimitério da Nazaré – Pederneira and brings us after having nice views over the city of Nazaré into the Sitio do São do Bartolomeu forest area and then returns to the Pederneira area.

Timing

The walk distance is 5,5 km and will take 1,5 hours. Normal roads and sandy paths.
