The Walk

A circular walk from Serra del Rey

A circular walk of about 7,5km from Serra del Rey through forestial and agricultural land north of Serra del Rey. The walk is very easy on well maintained trails. Your dog must be kept on a short non-extendable leash. You are personally responsible in case of any accident caused by it.

Timing

The walk is about 7,5 km and is expected to take about 2 hrs.

Bufarda at Atouguia de Baleia (pen 03L)

A walk at Bufarda near Peniche

A quite easy 12 km walk through an agricultural landscape near Atouguia de Baleia / Peniche. It will take us along some very fertile agricultural land where they grow lots of vegetables and where we can see the southern coast of Peniche in the distance. The walk has some ups and downs, but does not have steep climbs and will mainly be on rural tracks.

Please note that for safety reasons all dogs must be kept on a short leash at all times. In case of an accident dog owners will be kept personally responsible for their animal.

A walk around the reservoir of São Domingos near Peniche

A very easy walk around the reservoir of São Domingos near Atouguia de Baleia. It will take us along some very fertile agricultural land and some forestial areas. With a little luck we could also see ducks and other large aquatic birds. The walk does not have any steep climbs and will mainly be on rural tracks. Please note that for safety reasons all dogs must be kept on a short leash.

The Walk

A circular walk from the island from Baleal north along the beach to Praia Almagreira

A circular walk from the island from Baleal north along the beach to Praia Almagreira returning along the bluffs above the beach to the starting point. The outward path is on the beach which is hard packed and easy to walk. The return is along the path on the bluffs overlooking the ocean followed by a walk to the seaward tip of Baleal to the chapel. The starting point for the hike is at the parking lot on Baleal Island just across the beach via a narrow causeway, there is more parking on the shore just across from the island. You can drive directly to the parking lot on the island or park on the shore and walk across the causeway to the starting point. This walk is almost completely flat, but as mentioned above, it is only recommended that you attempt it at or near low tide.

The Walk:  A circular route following closely the water’s edge of the reservoir.  The first half is along a track and the second half is on grass next to the reservoir.
