Walk location: The pine woods between Nazaré and Valado dos Frades.

The Walk: The walk is along sandy tracks through open pine woodland and by cultivated fields. The walk encircles a small lake in the woods, with a beach, then we return more or less by the same path to the start point. There is one short, steep incline and the path has loose sand in places.
Timing: The walk is 7.5 km and is expected to take about 2 hrs.
Car Meeting Point: A lay-by at the Valado dos Frades/Alcobaça exit from the A8 auto-estrada at 10:15 am. See the Notes section below for directions.

Walk Start Point: We will drive 5km towards Nazaré to the start point. There is reasonable parking space by the side of the road.

Coffee Stop: There is an open air coffee stop in Valado dos Frades or to Famalicão.
Notes: On exit from the A8 motorway (signed Alcobaça/ Nazaré/ Valado dos Frades), turn right at the roundabout on the Alcobaça to Valado dos Frades main road (direction Valado dos Frades). There is a lay-by immediately on the RHS opposite a petrol station. If you come from Alcobaça go straight over the roundabout.
